Green w/pasted paperlabel to slightly darkened spine. Minor wear head and heel of spine, corners very slightly rubbed. Titles have faded completely from label . Top edge gilt. Lovely rough cut edge. The vast majority of the p ages have never been cut. Sadly, this book has been remainder marked with a red marker, top and bottom outside edges. Does not affect text. Lovely two-color title pages. Illustrated with beautiful photogravures on Japan vellum, etchings hand painted India-plate reproductions,with labeled tissue guard. Full color frontis of Spinoza Instructing D'Acosta. Impressive and elaborate gilt, red, blue and rose numbered cerificate, signed by the Editorial Director. Text is clean and tight, no marks, lightly and evenly toned. Introduction by Frank Sewall.
