Green w/pasted paper label to slightly darkened spine. Minor wear head and heel of spine, corners very slightly rubbed. Slight fray at head of spine. Dampstain at heel of spine and portion of front board. Titles have faded com pletely from labels, and there is rubbing to edges. Top edge gilt. Lovely rough cut edge. The vast majority of the pages have never been cut. Sadly, this book has been remainder marked with a red marker, top and bottom outside edges. Does not effect text. Lovely two-color title pages, Illustrated with beautiful photogravures on Japan vellum, etchings hand painted India-plate reproductions, all with labeled tissue guards. Frontis and two other illustrations. Text is clean and tight, no marks, lightly and evenly toned. The Religious beliefs, observances, Philosophic questions, and Social Customs of the nations of the East. Translated from the original Persian by David Shea and Anthony Troyer.
