Titre : VICTORIAN CARTES DES VISITES ALBUM
An embossed leather album, produced by Roberts Brothers of Boston, probably in the 1870's. With a discreet patch to the spine, and lacking the clasp. Partially filled, with about 30 cdvs, and several tintypes; mostly from New England, with a number from the Boston area, and from Maine. There is at least one with a San Francisco backmark, and one from St. Louis. One image is of J. W. Pattison, photographed by Claflin in Worcester, Mass. We surmise it may be of James William Pattison, an artist and figure painter of the day. Pattison, who studied under George Inness, was the son of the principal of Oread Institute, a women's college in Worcester. N° de réf. du libraire 274071
