42p. DISBOUND. A pamphlet that has been disbound from a larger work, but is complete in itself. The spine has been neatly reinforced with white tape. Pages are crisp and intact, with only the faintest foxing in the margins, mostly invisible unless inspected closely. Text is unmarked. Very good condition, despite being disbound. An anti-Catholic tract removed from the larger work SEVERAL TRACTS AGAINST POPERY by Scottish clergyman Michael Geddes (d. 1713). In this polemic, Geddes criticizes the Church's selling of indulgences and makes other accusations of graft by Roman clergy. He addresses indulgences given for crusades and funeral Masses, and reproduces the text of a bull of indulgences for blessed beads in what Geddes says is Portuguese, but is actually Spanish (Spain and Portugal were briefly in personal union under the Habsburgs in 1627, when the author says the bull was promulgated).
