A propos de cet article

Octavo, single issue, mimeographed, self wrappers. Includes part one of a two-part story, "Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family," by H. P. Lovecraft. Probably written no later than Autumn 1920, "this compact story - notable for its taut, restrained language in contrast to the flamboyance of some of his other early tales - tells why Sir Arthur Jermyn doused himself in oil and set himself aflame one night." - Joshi, H. P. Lovecraft: A Life, pp. 235-36. The story, reprinted in WEIRD TALES, April 1924, as "The White Ape," and WEIRD TALES, May 1935, as "Arthur Jermyn," is the source for THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH (written in 1931; published 1936). Additionally, this issue of THE WOLVERINE includes "The Vivisector" by "Zoilus," a column devoted to critical reviews of amateur writing, this one, written by H. P. Lovecraft. Joshi I-B-i-21 and I-B-ii-243. Stab holes along spine edge, shallow chipping to pulp paper along spine edge, staples removed, disbound (removed from a pamphlet bind-up), still an about very good copy. A rare amateur magazine. (#102346). N° de réf. du libraire 136197
