Soft Cover. Good/Pictorial Wraps. 10 x 14". The centerfold and the double page under it (pages 13-20) have come loose from the staples. Light foxing to endpapers, but no other signs of use. This is #5 on the list of Walter Foster's "How to Draw" art books. (There are 179 titles listed on the inside back cover.) It consists of 28 pages, mostly color illustrations, about how to paint watercolors. Most of the examples are of still lifes and landscapes, but the centerfold illustration is a luminous portrait of French actress Magdelaine Ozeray by European painter Max Moreau, with accompanying step drawings by Foster. (The complete portrait is reproduced on the back cover, and a closeup of Ozeray's face is on the front cover.) Each picture is broken down into steps, from partially painted sketch through the completed work, with information given about paint colors used. No date is given for this publication, but online research suggests c. 1960. A wonderful, nostalgic, oversize piece. The cover portrait of Magdelaine Ozeray--a blonde beauty with pensive blue eyes, thin arched eyebrows, and red beestung lips--makes it very desirable. Size: 10 x 14". N° de réf. du libraire 000377
