A propos de cet article

Very Good+ in Very Good+ DJ: Both book and DJ show indications of very careful use. Book shows shadows at the front and rear endpapers, where cellophane tape has been used in the process of affixing a heavy vinyl plastic cover to the DJ and the DJ to the book; else minimal wear to the extremities; binding square and secure; text clean. DJ shows only a touch of wear: mild rubbing; the price has been clipped; considerable, though faint smudging to the front panel and the backstrip is faintly darkened, though the titles remain perfectly legible; protected with heavy vinyl. Overall, remains a handsome volume in a lightly soiled, but intact DJ. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 12mo. 264pp. Translated into English in 1678 by Richard Russell. Introduction by E.J. Holmyard, M.A., M.Sc., D.Litt. Hardback with DJ. Abu Musa Jabir ibn Hayyan, fl.c.721–c.815). was a prominent Persian polymath: a chemist and alchemist, astronomer and astrologer, engineer, geographer, philosopher, physicist, and pharmacist and physician. Born and educated in Tus, he later traveled to Kufa. Jabir is held to have been the first practical alchemist. As early as the 10th century, the identity and exact corpus of works of Jabir was in dispute in Islamic circles. His name was Latinized as "Geber" in the Christian West and in 13th-century Europe an anonymous writer, usually referred to as Pseudo-Geber, produced alchemical and metallurgical writings under the pen-name Geber.
