Description du livre Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. 1st Edition. Brunner, John. Times without number. First UK edition in its "completely revised and considerably expanded form". Leeds: The Elmfield Press, 1974. Hardback, VG, in unclipped dustjacket, designed by Josh Kirby, with moderate shelfwear to edges and small nicks to top corners. Yellow cloth with black lettering to spine. Binding strong. 233pp. Mild dust-staining to top edge of page block. Contents clean and bright. John Kilian Houston Brunner (24 September 1934 25 August 1995) was a British author of science fiction novels and stories. His 1968 novel Stand on Zanzibar, about an overpopulated world, won the 1969 Hugo Award for best science fiction novel, and the BSFA award the same year. The Jagged Orbit won the BSFA award in 1970. Before his death, most of his books had fallen out of print. Brunner accused publishers of a conspiracy against him, although he was known to be difficult to deal with. Brunner is credited with coining the term "worm" (in computing) and predicting the emergence of computer viruses. As seen at the shattering conclusion, in the concept of time travel and its consequences taken up in this book, there can be one and only one timeline. Unlike other time travel books where a change in the past creates a new branching timeline which exists side by side with the old one, here changing the past annihilates all of the succeeding later times, and a new timeline has taken the place of the former one. As in Poul Anderson's "Delenda Est", there is a zero-sum game relation for one timeline to exist, the other one must be destroyed. RightWayUp Books aims to provide accurate and detailed descriptions.
