Présentation de l'éditeur :
StoryCards have been designed to develop children's understanding of basic concepts and to promote the use of expressive language.

Each pack features one concept and contains four stories, each with an endearing central character. The StoryCards can be used alongside other, more structured, language resources in order to reinforce understanding and encourage generalisation. On the reverse of each card is a photocopiable line illustration for colouring and reinforcement of the concepts. This pack features adjectives:

  • Elephant to the Rescue: big, little, wet and dry
  • A Home of his Own: full, empty, open and shut
  • Nowhere to Hide: long, short, tall and small
  • Time to Play: dirty, clean, dark and light.
Each adjective is repeated several times in various situations to reinforce the child's understanding of its meaning. As the child's understanding increases, expression using the adjectives can be encouraged. The child will also learn to expand early vocabulary to include situations outside their own world. The grammatical structures will be modelled and generalised, thus encouraging the use of more mature utterances.

This pack can also be used to develop understanding of other concepts, including verbs, opposites, pronouns and comparatives/superlatives, alongside the adjectives. Each story can also be used for sequencing and retelling.

Revue de presse :
"The illustrations are clear and colourful ...the illustrations showed clearly the contrast between adjectives...easy to link up the pictures with the script...the greatest asset of the StoryCards is that they are readily adaptable." - --Bulletin

"...these cards have been designed to aid the development of children's understanding of basic concepts by encouraging the use of expressive language." --Special Children

"This set of four stories attempts to develop the use of a variety of opposites. Each section uses four of the target words to build up a story through a series of twelve cards. The cards can be used for sequencing...the stories are so constructed that it is easy to select a few cards and here they might be more useful in practising opposites." --Sarah Smith, SENCO Church Crookham Junior School, Afasic News
