Jean Rapp (1771-1821) joined the chasseurs in 1788, proved himself by bravery and daring and became adc to Napoleon. He played a major role in the disastrous Russian Campaign of 1812, and saved the Emperor's life at Gorodna. These meoirs are solely about his military career.
