About the Author :
Growing up in rural Iowa had its challenges as well as its rewards. Being from a very small town, I was one of only six students in my elementary school – and the only girl! Cold winters were also a challenge, but long leisurely days with a good book provided me with the foundation of what would become a lifelong love of reading. I read everything I could get my hands on including textbooks, encyclopedias, and even dictionaries, just for fun. I had the good fortune to develop a love of the written word in an unhurried world. Now, I take great pleasure in writing stories for my own children and extended family. I also enjoy taking part in church activities, volunteering in the classroom as a reading advocate, and speaking to local support groups on the topics of health and wellness. My husband and I share our home with one delightfully rambunctious pup, Foxy, who is the bossiest dog we know.

MOTHER: (astonished) Jeremiah, look! Do you see the bread you have taken from the loaf? You’ve removed your portion, yet the loaf seems nearly whole. (pausing) Watch as others in our group remove their pieces.
NARRATOR: Jeremiah and his family were amazed as they observed the ample helpings of bread and fish. They seemed to be replenished as they passed from hand to hand.
JAMES: Father! Look at all the bread!
FATHER: (awestruck) If I did not see this with my own eyes, I would not believe it! This is a miracle!
JAMES: See all the bread that is left?
MOTHER: There is more fish, too!
MIRIAM: Everyone has been fed and no one has been left hungry.
MOTHER: Let’s collect the remaining food so none will be wasted.
JAMES: I want to help! I can help gather the bread.
MIRIAM: I know! Those boats over there should have baskets to carry fish to the market. We could use them to collect the bread.
JAMES: That’s a very good idea. Let’s go and get them!
NARRATOR: When his children returned with the reed baskets, Jeremiah helped the disciples to collect the broken portions of food. After gathering all that remained, they brought the filled baskets to Jesus.
DISCIPLE 2: Master! We’ve brought back these baskets filled with the left over bread and food.
DISCIPLE 1: We had to search for even more containers from the boats.
FATHER: (amazed) Look! There are twelve baskets filled with food!
JESUS: Well done, my faithful servants. Did I not say our guests would be fed?
FATHER: (confused) But how were You able to make five loaves of bread feed this many people? I ... I don’t understand.
JESUS: (comforting) Perhaps it’s not as important for you to understand as it is for you to believe.
NARRATOR: Jeremiah and his family were amazed as they observed the ample helpings of bread and fish. They seemed to be replenished as they passed from hand to hand.
