Ma Thanegi was educated a the Methodist English High School, the Institute of Economics and the Institute of Foreign Languages, all situated in Yangon. She has written a few books and many articles on art, culture, food and travel. This is her first cookbook. She secretly learnt to cook at the age of 13, in spite of her mother's view that women should have careers and not cook.
