Hardcover. Etat : Fair. Hardcover. Yellow cloth over boards with ornate lack and orange stamping on covers; black lettering on spine. Not dated, c. 1900, maybe a bit earlier. 39 pages. In fair condition. Cloth is slightly frayed at head and foot of spine. Corners bumped. Stamping remains quite bright and handsome. Author Latta Griswold's bookplate on front attached endpaper, and her inscription on front free endpaper. Front gutter is cracked through; binding is fragile, but holds. Pages are clean. Quite a lovely printing of Wilde's final published work before his death in 1900.

Hardcover. Etat : Fine. Early reprint. In pale blue boards with paper labels on cover and spine. Both cover and spine are lightly speckled, Paper label on spine is slightly rubbed. Text block is very clean and tight. The book was first published in 1898 in an edition of 800 copies. The identification of the author as "C.3.3." is a reference to cell block C, landing 3, cell 3. The Brentano's edition does not identify Oscar Wilde as the author, consistent with editions published prior to 1899.

Etat : Fine. pp 32 The second printing of The Unicorn Press edition of Wilde's Ballad of Reading Gaol. A fine copy, the book is in the publisher's tan cloth in a buckram spine with bright gilt lettering. Internally the book is crisp and fresh, the only blemish being some scuffs to the title page. In a very good dust wrapper, lightly spotted and soiled with nick to head of spine and one short closed tear to lower panel. A very pleasing copy. (4),31 leaves, original ochre cloth with cream cloth giltlettered spine= First published in 1898 anonymously under Oscar Wilde's prisoner identification number C.3.3., our copy being one of the seventh edition which identifies Oscar Wilde as the author in print on the title-page for the first time. It also states "Entered at the Library of Congress Washington, U.S.A." in the colophon, indicating an American issue. Upper joint splitting at ends; spine darkened; faint dampstaining to lower end of covers, coming through a bit at inner hinge of first endpapers; some foxing.

The last published work of Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) before his death in exile in November of 1900. The Anglo-Irish poet and playwright, remembered as one of high society's greatest wits, suffered a criminal conviction for gross indecency and was subsequently sentenced to two years hard labour - the bulk of which was served at Reading Gaol. Size: 8vo.

Oscar Wilde's famous poem relating events in Reading Gaol during his two year incarceration, written in France after his release. Issued by the publisher of the first edition of 1898, one of the unauthorised editions based on the seventh, which was the first to have the title page bearing the author's name in square brackets below his prisoner designation.
