Imbert de Saint-Amand diplomate et historien français s est fait connaitre par un ensemble de publications sur les femmes de l ancienne cour de France et du XIXe siècle avec entre autres les beaux jours de Marie-Antoinette et la fin de l ancien régime, Marie-Antoinette et la fin de l Ancien Régime, Marie-Antoinette aux Tuileries, Marie-Antoinette et l agonie de la royauté, la dernière année de Marie-Antoinette, mais aussi la citoyenne Bonaparte, la femme du premier consul, la cour de l impératrice Joséphine, les beaux jours de Marie-Louise, Marie-Louise et la décadence de l Empire, la duchesse de Berry, la duchesse d Angoulême, etc. La série "Les Femmes de Versailles" est publiée entre 1875 et 1879 chez Edouard Dentu en 5 volumes au format in 18. Le succès aidant de cette collection Dentu lancera une seconde édition avec cartonnage de luxe au format in quarto en 1887 - Cartonnage sans tâche ni accident mais aux décors frottés et un peu éteints, coiffes un peu écrasées mais sans accroc ni manque, pas de déboîtage, intérieur avec rousseurs continues et parfois importantes, les gravures sont bien conservées, Exemplaire en assez bon état avec les réserves d usage pour les rousseurs.
