Book is ex-library with expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Dust jacket flap is glued to front pastedown. Pages remain bright and clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Binding is shaky, however pages remain fully attached. Some pages are dog-earred. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Spine has crushing to both ends. Book has forward lean. Black staining present.

Moderate edgewear to price-clipped dust jacket, with 1" closed tears to front panel edges near sunned spine, light dust soiling, and moderate scattered rubbing. Vivid red cloth over boards, with upper board and spine lettered in bronze. Mild edgewear to binding and very slight lean to spine, else fine, sound and firm with clean, unmarked pages. A very attractive first printing of this Civil War novel of the Southwest by Henry Wilson Allen (pseudonyms Clay Fisher and Will Henry) in worn but pleasing dust jacket by author and artist Guy Davenport, with a portrait of the author to rear panel.
