Russell begins the letter by stating that he will be visiting his mother and will not 'return to Watford before Friday night. - On Saturday morning I hope I may have the good fortune of finding you at home to talk over matters in connexion with my marriage on the 5th. of May.' (to Lady Emily Villiers, daughter of George Villiers, 4th Earl of Clarendon). He thanks him for taking his room at the Clarendon Hotel, before concluding.

3pp, 12mo. Bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged. Folded once. Begins: 'Dear Princess Charlotte. | May I venture to ask Your Royal Highness's acceptance of a small wedding present from my husband and myself with our most sincere and heartfelt good wishes for Your Royal Highness's future happiness and prosperity.' The present is 'the newest style of Minton's china and this is the first specimen of the kind'. She concludes in conventional style. Beneath the signature, in a contemporary hand (that of the Princess?): 'Lady Ampthill the Wife of the Late Ambassador in Berlin.' The recipient Princess Charlotte of Prussia (Viktoria Elisabeth Auguste Charlotte), married her second cousin Bernhard III of Saxe-Meiningen in 1878, becoming his Duchess Consort. She was a daughter of the Hohenzollern Prince Frederick of Prussia, and through her mother Victoria, Princess Royal, she was the eldest granddaughter of the British monarch Queen Victoria and her consort Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

An einen namentlich nicht genannten Empfänger wegen einer Fischlieferung: Soeben erhielt ich Ihr gefälliges Telegramm und beeilte mich Sie zu bitten die Fische noch nicht abzuschicken, da ich, sowie auch mein Bruder, noch nicht im Stande sind die Besorgung und den Empfang der Fische zu unternehmen. - Mein Bruder braucht noch vierzehn Tage um Alles in Ordnung zu bringen. Ich habe, wie ich die Ehre hatte Ihnen zu schreiben, niemand den ich nicht mit dieser Besorgung beauftragen kann, - und wenn es Ihr Fischmeister, den Sie so freundlichen waren, mir dazu anzutragen, nicht allein übernehmen kann so habe ich wirklich in diesem Augenblick niemand der ihn begleiten könnte. - Wenn der Transport nicht mit Überlegung, Muße und sorgfältiger Organisation unternommen wird, so verlieren wir die Fische wie es beim ersten Transport der Fall war. [ ]".
