Hardcover. Paper covered boards. 77, (1) pp, (2), 4 pp ads 16 bw repros. An original, not a reprint. Ray Smith has written a succinct description that defies improvement: "Pioneering exhibition of works by sixteen American modernists (Ben Benn, Thomas H. Benton, Oscar Bluemner, Andrew Dasburg, Arthur G. Dove, Marsden Hartley, S. MacDonald-Wright, John Marin, Alfred Maurer, Henry L. McFee, George F. Of, Man Ray, Morgan Russell, Charles Sheeler, A. Walkowitz, and William and Marguerite Zorach, with statements by each. Introduction, "What Is Modern Painting? by Willard Huntington Wright; forewords by Christian Brinton, Robert Henri, W.H. de B. Nelson, Alfred Stieglitz, John Weichsel and Willard Huntington Wright; bibliography." VG HOWEVER, there is a significant dampstaining line along all the page edges. No illustrations are affected by this. Otherwise, a like new copy. May be ex museum library copy with minimal wear (I have 2).
