FIRST AND ONLY EDITION of this lavish souvenir program commemorating Monelle Valentin's first performance as Thérèse in Jean Anouilh's "La sauvage". 16 pp. Valentin (1905-1979) was a noted actress and the mother of Anouilh's daughter Catherine (1934-1989), herself an actress. EDITION LIMITED TO ONLY 30 NUMBERED COPIES, ALL BEAUTIFULLY PRINTED IN TWO COLORS ON FINE LANA WOVE PAPER. With five fine plates, four of which are colored by hand, depicting Valentin. WITH AN AFFECTIONATE SIGNED INSCRIPTION FROM VALENTIN TO BIBLIOPHILE RAOUL MORLIER, for whom this copy was printed (originally someone else's name was printed as the recipient of this copy, but Valentin blacked that name out and wrote in Moulier's, assuring him in the description that the other name was a mistake.) Folio. Contents loose as issued in a wrapper made of very thick handmade paper with an embossed portrait of Valentin on the cover, and a board folder with a window designed to reveal the embossed portrait. Contents FINE AND BRIGHT; wrapper with a dampstain visible mainly from the back; board folder a bit worn and discolored. ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL ANOUILH ITEMS: NO COPIES RECORDED IN WORLDCAT.
