No Binding. Etat : Collectible-Very Good. Original letter handwritten in black ink on beige stationery of the United States Army & Navy Journal on 240 Broadway, New York. Dated September 29, 1890. 5 1/2" x 8 1/2." Two pages, complete. Paper and handwriting are very clean and intact. Two horizontal fold lines (may be original). Printed letterhead reads, "Office of the United States Army & Navy Journal, 240 Broadway, New York, [handwritten date]; A Weekly Newspaper, Devoted to the Interests of the Army & Navy, & National Guard." The first issue of the United States Army & Navy Journal was published in 1863. The magazine was founded by brothers Francis and William Church. Both Francis and William worked in the newspaper business and were associated with such names as the New York Sun and the New York Times. William was also a Civil War veteran and would go on to co-found the National Rifle Association (NRA). The United States Army & Navy Journal was eventually renamed the Armed Forces Journal (AFJ) in 1968. The last issue of the AFJ was published in 2014. This letter is addressed to Dr. W. Yoetry[?] from Charles G.[?] Leach. Yoetry appears to be someone Leach is well-acquainted with as he asks Yoetry how he and his family are doing. Leach reassures Yoetry that he has not forgotten about him after not writing him for a while. Leach writes further, "If you would like tickets for any of the big Military Affairs this season I will endeavor to look out for you as much as possible." Leach signs with, "I Remain Yours Truly, Chas. G. Leach.". Signed by Author(s).
