8vo., (8 2/8 x 5 2/8 inches). Half-title. Wood-engraved title-page, 4 folding lithographed maps, 46 wood-engraved plates, numerous head- and tail-pieces and initials throughout. Later full blue calf, elegantly decorated in gilt, all edges gilt. Provenance: with the leather book label of Aime Laurent on the recto of the front free endpaper; from the library of Jacques Levy, his sale, Sotheby's, 20th April 2012, lot 42. First edition, and an attractive copy of a charming book about the Seine. Nodier is better known for his influence on the French Romantic movement than for his own writings. For many years he was the librarian at the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal. Carteret Romantique et moderne III, 432.
