Examines maps of various periods and cultures from early antiquity to the 18th century, putting them in perspective with Bagrow's clear account of their evolution. More than 200 reproductions of notable maps in monochrome and color. Bagrow published over 70 studies in carography, and was editor of "Imago Mundi." Skelton was Superintendent of the Map Room at the British Museum. 312 pages includes index. The postal charges quoted are for an average-sized book.
