Balderston, an American (Howard) sails to England to marry his cousin, follow the American victory in the war of independence. 149 years later, his descendent with the same name, also played by Howard,inherits his house in England and finds his diary which magically transports him back to his forebear's era, where he must adapt to an earlier period with its own customs. This film was believed lost until it was rediscovered in the 1970s. Nominated for one Academy Award for Best Actor. Set in England.
