Cloth. Etat : Near Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. This is a near fine, unmarked, hardcover first edition copy in bright red cloth with gold tiger on the cover, alas, no DJ. Still a lovely copy. Good enough for a collector.

Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. ] Hardback, 8vo, gilt on navy blue cloth, 320 pages, Near VG/no dj. Only minor signs of wear, spine-ends bumped, gilt (spine only) very readable, but slightly dulled. Navy blue dulled just slightly at the spine, as well. Edges tanned a little, one short tear (bottom edge) within. Binding sound with hinges intact. Anecdotes and appx 16 plates of photos of Beatty and his animals: elephants, lions, tigers, chimps, hippo, etc. Includes chapters concerning: Beatty's favorite animals, Hollywood, Cole Brothers, an incident in Milwaukee, Harriet Beatty (his wife - "a superb lion trainer in her own right"). Earl Wilson (co-author) must be an entertainment journalist of some sort. I believe I've seen one of his own books called Hollywood Laid Bare or some such, featuring a half-dozen photographs taken during an interview he did with a naked woman. Bound in blue cloth boards, with dark titles to spine, this dated 1946 hardback is in VG condition. 223pp, with approx 14pp of b/w photographs. Faded spine, and ob boards along spine and top. Top and bottom of spine rubbed, as are the corners. Foxing to the first two or three pages, and lasttwop or three pages and pastedowns.
