Soft cover. Etat : Good. This book is a facsimile reprint of two previous books on a subject of occult interest that happened in Tennessee in the early years of the nineteenth century. "The Bell Witch of Middle Tennessee" by Harriet Parks Miller, and "The Bell Witch, a Mysterious Spirit" by Charles Bailey Bell, a descendant of the original Bell family who were afflicted with what were purported to be either ghosts or poltergeists - or angry spirits acting in a manner to suggest poltergeist activity. The Bell Witch is probably the most famous occult event in Tennessee history that deals directly with hauntings. People came from miles around to witness or experience the events, which seem to have started out benignly enough, but then seemingly evolved into frightening occurrences which unsettled the Bell family. The two books (originally published in 1930 and 1934) recounting the story were bound together, and published in 1972 in facsimile reproduction by Charles Elder, Bookseller. ****************************************** TITLE : The Bell Witch, a Mysterious Spirit / AUTHOR : Charles Bailey Bell / (bound with) / TITLE : The Bell Witch of Middle Tennessee / AUTHOR Harriet Parks Miller / IMPRINT : Charles Elder / PLACE : Nashville, Tennessee / DATE : 1972 / EDITION : Facsimile Reprint / STATUS : Out of Print - OP / DETAILS : Trade paperback; contains one illustration; 228 pages + 92 pages; 4 7/8" x 7 1/4", pictorial wraps, glued.
