Hardback. Etat : Very Good. First Edition. 1941. First edition. xx, 109pp. This is the eleventh volume of the Irish Governments 'Mediaeval and Modern Irish Series'. The series was intended to further the study of Irish literatue by the re-publication of mediaeval and modern texxs in a form suitable for class work. This volume contains the text of Críth Gablach, one of the early law texts written from Ireland, probably composed in the early eighth century, dealing with the hierarchies of society and the implications of status. It includes an introduction, notes, vocabulary, and legal glossary. The book is bound in the original black cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling and light staining on the boards. The titling on the spine is noticeably worn and the spine ends are bumped. The contents are tight and clean although the text of the Crith Gablach itself contains numerous pencil notes and underlining. The rear endpapers have a few notes in blue ink and a name and date have been written on the front free endpaper.
