First edition. Very good in very good dust jacket. Dust jacket is slightly edgeworn and soiled. 365pp. + folded plan. An important association copy. Ink name and address of Frederick Tisdall on upper corner of front free endpaper: "Dr. F.F. Tisdall / 14 Whitney Ave." Inscribed by William Blatz just below the address: "from one author / to another / W.E. Blatz." William E. Blatz (1894-1965), the great Canadian child psychologist, wrote numerous books on the education and upbringing of children, popularized nursery education, promoted the establishment of day care centres and in 1925 established the Institute of Child Study. Frederick Tisdall (1893-1949), the great Canadian pediatrician, develo p e d t h e i n f a n t b r e a k f a s t c e r e a l p a b l u m , a n u t r itional breakthrough in the treatment of rickets, with Alan Brown and Theodore Drake in 1930.
