Manuscrit / Papier ancien
Draft script for the 1977 film, copy belonging to actor Altovise Davis, with her first name and copy number 11 written in manuscript ink and red marker respectively on the second leaf preceding the title page, and with annotations in manuscript pencil, ink, and highlighter regarding Davis' character, Birch Colby, throughout. Laid in is a Call Sheet, dated Friday, April 8, 1977, with annotations in manuscript pencil. Davis starred in six films and made several guest appearances on television shows in the 1970s and 1980s, but is best known as Sammy Davis Jr.'s third wife. Married in 1970 by Rev. Jesse Jackson, they remained married until Sammy Davis Jr.'s death in 1990. One of the best remembered of the "nature on the rampage" films of the 1970s, in no small part due to the lead, William Shatner, as veterinarian Dr. Rack Hansen. A group of townsfolk are trapped in a remote hotel when a horde of migrating tarantulas overruns the town. A cult classic. Set in Verde Valley, Arizona, shot on location in Camp Verde, Oak Creek Canyon, and Sedona, Arizona. Orange titled wrappers. Title page present, with credits for screenwriters Jeffrey M. Sneller, Stephen Lodge, and Alan Caillou. 123 leaves, with last page of text numbered 108. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only, with blue, pink, and yellow revision pages throughout, dated variously between 3/11/77 and 3/26/77. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound internally with three gold brads. Nilsen, Warped and Faded.
