The bibliographical description is followed by the auction sale record, which gives the auction house date of sale, sale lot number, buyer's name (when given and published by the auction house) and the price made, which is the hammer price. (Where known, the amount of buyer's premium charged by each Auction House is given as a percentage). In addition cross-references are made for pseudonyms, joint authorship, nobles, compound names (in cases where confusion may arise) and also for the more important illustrators, editors, translators and private presses. Bibliographical abbreviations used in the records are those which appear in the list of abbreviations. This Volume records only those lots which realised £50.00 and over (U.K.), $100.00 and over (U.S.A., Canada and Australia), or the European equivalent of £100.00 and over . The map entries are generally arranged alphabetically by Author or Cartographer followed by the title, place and date of publication, size, description and sale record. The description includes details of decoration, whether coloured, framed and glazed or mounted, and also any imperfections that might affect the price. Spine slightly sunned, covers slightly rubbed and edges of textblock a little soiled, otherwise near Very Good.
