Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Newton Booth Tarkington (1869 - 1946) was an American novelist and dramatist best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning novels "The Magnificent Ambersons" and "Alice Adams." This is his second book. Monsieur Beaucaire was adapted as a 1924 silent film drama based on the Booth Tarkington novel. Filmed at Paramount Studios in New York City, it was produced and directed by Sidney Olcott and starred Rudolph Valentino. It was later (1946) adapted as a comedy starring Bob Hope. Tight and square; covers moderately soiled, spine sunned and faded, corners lightly bumped, all text and plates clean and bright. VERY GOOD. B&W Plates. 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
