The author, Marcella Spann Booth, started visiting Ezra Pound at St. Elizabeth's in mid 1956 and later became his assistant, muse and very close companion, travelling with Pound and his family to live in Italy after his release in 1958. She later became a Professor of English at the University of Connecticut. The author relates the story of how she first met Pound and is an appreciation of his masterwork, the Cantos.
