Livre
Couverture rigide. Etat : Bon. Montréal, published by Drysdale and Co., 1875, hard cover, original ¾ leather binding, beveled edgeswith gilt lettering to both spine and front board, about 11 ½ X 9 inches, 153 pages + 52 double-sided plates with 187 mounted albumen prints and a portrait frontispice of G. E. Cartier. Unfortunately the 36th plate has been cut in the middle and the upper part is missing (so 3 albumen are missing). Cover is about good showing some wear here and there and a 1 inch tear to front spine hinge (upper part) but still clean, complete and solid. Interior is is very good EXCEPT for a few things. Binding is solid with no loose page. Pages of text show a light tanning and some very small tears to margins of a few pages. Page 105-106 has been cut in the middle but the two part of the page are present. Plates show a very light waving as usual. On 52 plates 15 of them show a ½ to 2 inches tear always to the middle of the lower margin (see images). Any of these tears affect the albumens. All albumen are in very fine condition without any noticeable wear EXCEPT only for one. When somebody cut the 36th plate he also cut the previous page (105-106) and leave a cut trace on the 35th plate affecting one albumen. Finally we can note a few library marks and stamps at beginning and end, a small stamp to page 67 lower margin and a few very light soiling on a very few plates (like finger prints). As we can only post 5 photos on Abebooks site please don?t hesitate to ask for more.
