Etat : Fair. 1948. First Published. 238 pages. Cream dust jacket over blue cloth. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Thumb-marking present. Noticeable creasing to gutter. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Some crushing to spine ends. Noticeable tanning to spine and edges. Small marks to boards. Textblock is shaky. Unclipped jacket has heavy edgewear with some areas of loss, heavy tears, chips and, creasing. Visible tanning to spine. Noticeable rubbing to surfaces. Scuffing to all. Water staining to panels.

Nine stories by the author, based on traditional folklore and superstitions of the Western Isles of Scotland, some are traditional tales re-told by the author, who has, according to his foreword, "often to have taken very great liberty in the way of alteration and addition". Inscribed by the author on page before half-title "To Nurse Young / with kind regards from the Author / Yarrowlea 1st Dec/38". Yarrowlea was the author's house in Selkirk. 296pp, endpapers show a map from 1570 of the West of Scotland. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Signed by Author.
