The dust jacket is very good++ and not price clipped; slightly darkened to spine and a couple of tiny closed edge nicks. A most attractive copy in 'The Lonsdale Library' series [Volume XXXII].

First Edition. 1st edition hardcover in red cloth boards with gilt title spine and fox with hunting hounds amidst oak leaves on frt board. 279 pp. Twenty tipped-in plates (four in color) on grey card . Red boards with gilt spine lettering lightly sunned, gilt titles still quite legible. Corners bumped but not rubbed. Text tight and bright with remnants of grey card now removed on blank fep. Age toning on endpps but overall interior condition is very clean. 'Of all field sports it can be claimed that the pursuit of wild animals by packs of Hounds served in the field by men mounted on horses is the most exhilarating, the most varied, and therefore the most attractive' (from the introduction). Lord Willoughby de Broke introduces this anthology and comments on his selections, which include passages by Egerton Warburton, Whyte Melville, Bromley-Davenport, Beckford, Nimrod, the Bag Fox, and Anthony Trollope.
