Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Dust Jacket Included. ## The Weymouth Yacht Log Book for Sail or Power. 1950 ## ## THIS BOOK: This Book has been classified as VERY GOOD: This is the 1950 edition. The dust jacket is in good condition, with a few repairs to minor tears repaired, and the dust jacket has done its job. The binding is blue linen with Log Book in gold, looking like a rope; see images. Minor bumping. There is a lot of valuable information within these pages. Six pages have been filled in for the vessel Hippolyta of London, a 45.3 Gaff Ketch ## ## Half the fun in keeping a Log Book has been lost, having to fill in unnecessary columns. Here this modern book gives simple requirements for any small sail or power vessel and simultaneously fulfils the requisite wants of the navigator, giving them an interesting volume to look back on. On the right-hand page, there are columns for such important things as Course, Wind, Barometer, Patent Log, etc., along with Latitude and Longitude, A.M., Noon and P.M. there is space for such information as Motor Run, Fuel Consumption, Fuel Received, on Hand, etc. The Log Book is not complicated; the left-hand pages are all blank for Crew and Visitors' details, Daily Notes and sketches, photographs, etc. Including Signaling, Compass Information, Beaufort Wind Scale, etc., on the inside covers will prove very handy. This log book is the ideal Yachtsman's Log Book at last. Hard Back. ## ## INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please Note. FREE SHIPPING IS UK ONLY. PLEASE, contact me for a shipping quotation. ###.

Etat : Fine. "This chart depicts the ensigns, flags, and pendants of various nations around the world at the beginning of the 1950's. What was originally designed as a useful reference for naval symbols has become, to a modern audience, a "snapshot" of the political organization in the early years of the Cold War. Given the chart is a production of the United Kingdom, it's not surprising to see the flags of the British Commonwealth dominating the top of the sheet. Further examination reveals these as a detailed expression of the fracturing of the British Empire that occurred after World War II. A review of the rest of the image provides an incredible amount of contextual information about the ongoing global situation, including the establishment of Israel, the organization of the U.S.S.R., the importance of the United Nations, and hints of increasing global independence movements (see Libya). Multiple ensigns are shown to differentiate various purposes, including the International Code of Signals at the bottom of the page. Three hundred and twenty five flags are listed in all, and individually labeled on the verso of the sheet. The chart was issued by Brown, Son & Ferguson in Glasgow. The company was established in 1850 as a stationary business, but frequent visits by captains of ships along the River Clyde led the firm to begin publishing material specific to maritime interests. They continue to operate and publish maps and charts to this day." Sheet Width (in) 34.75 Sheet Height (in) 23 Condition Description Originally issued folded into 24 segments and affixed to blue paper covers. Creasing along fold lines and minor discoloration along the outer edges of the sheet. A few tiny tears along the fold lines, but overall in near fine condition. Original covers present and in good shape.
