Dj: Good, edgewear and chips, protective covered. 9x6. 255pp. Colour frontis. 29 b/w photographs illustrate the text. This first Alpine Annual is based on the two numbers of the Alpine Journal issued in 1949, containing articles by Geoffrey Howard, Sir Charles Sherrington, G.F. Peaker, G.R. de Beer, T. Graham Brown, Michael Roberts, D.L. Busk, Claire Enge, H.W. Tilman and others. This book was published by arrangement with the Alpine Club in the expectation that, with the growth of interest in mountaineering and exploration of the time there would be need for a popular and slightly abridged version of the venerable but ever youthful Alpine Journal.
