First edition in English. Collection of fifteen stories, including "The Gentleman from San Francisco." "The Dreams of Chang" and "The Brethren" are set at sea. Ettlinger and Gladstone, Russian Literature, Theatre and Art: A Bibliography of Works in English, Published Between 1900-1945, p. 36. Cloth just a bit scuffed, a tight, clean, very good copy. First edition in English. Collection of fifteen stories by the winner of the 1933 Nobel Prize for Literature. "The Scream" and "The Third Cock-Crow" are set at sea. "Transfiguration" is a spooky story abut a young man's vigil by the body of his dead mother. "A Creepy Story" is criminous. Ettlinger and Gladstone, Russian Literature, Theatre and Art: A Bibliography of Works in English, Published Between 1900-1945, p. 36. Top edge of text block foxed, mild foxing to endpapers, a very good copy in good printed dust jacket with short tears at edges and general dust soiling. (#134828).
