Cracking to hinges, no damage to end papers. Cloth at spine is slack from binding. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding is shaky. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Moderate crushing to spine ends, with splitting, fraying and loss to the head, tail and joints. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate tanning to spine.

Bishop Burnet was a Scottish philosopher and historian, and Bishop of Salisbury. He was fluent in Dutch, French, Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. Burnet was highly respected as a cleric, a preacher, an academic, a writer and a historian. He was always closely associated with the Whig party, and was one of the few close friends in whom King William III confided. This is volume IV of the six volume edition & includes Book V "Of the Reign of King William and Queen Mary" & Book VI "Of the Life and Reign of King William III"; followed by a table of contents of the foregoing volume. The notes & other notations appear at the bottom of relevant pages. Enlarged Edition. Size: Octavo (standard book size). 577 pages. One volume of the 6-volume set. An abridged edition of Burnet's celebrated history of the Reformation, written in answer to Nicholas Sanders' 'De Origine et Progressu Schismatio Anglicani Libri Tres' which had attacked the English reformation as nothing more than a political move by a corrupt King. The book earned Burnet much praise. 700 grams.
