Etat : Collectible. William Hogarth, J. Van Der Gucht (illustrateur). Very Good. Original 1732 brown leather 5-ribbed binding. Hogarth engravings appeared first in 1726. Thereafter, other editions with these plates were published throughout the eighteenth century. This 1732 edition features clear, sharp impressions of the plates, unlike some of the later editions. The frontis plate of "Mr Samual Butler" is by J Van der Gucht, scul(ptor). Four Hogarth plates. One Van der Gucht plate, additional fold-out plates (un-attributed). Miscellaneous chapter embellishments throughout. Each of the Three Parts separately titled, with Part III printed for B Motte [1732].
