It is about the romantic adventures and dalliances of two generations of the Pringle family, fox-hunting and local society. ***It may be a recommendation to the lover of light literature to be told that the following story does not involve the complication of plot. It is a mere continuous narrative of an almost every-day exaggeration interspersed with sporting scenes and excellent illustrations by Leech', written March 31, 1858 (Quote from the preface to the fore by the author). ***Robert Smith Surtees (17 May 1805 ¿ 16 March 1864) was an English editor, novelist and sporting writer, more familiarly known as R. S. Surtees. ***First impression of this new edition, complete with all thirteen coloured plates and sixty-nine black and white woodcuts throughout the text. A nice edition. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
