Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. "Recollections of Auton House" by C. Auton (Augustus Hoppin). 1909; Houghton Mifflin Company; Boston and New York. The book is illustrated throughout. Please see the photos for the complete list of contents. From the Preface: "These reminiscences are written to satisfy the Auton who composed them, and to amuse the Autons who may read them. Grown-up people never cease to be young. They are only old boys with hats and whiskers, and old girls with frizettes and eyeglasses, that's all. There are many Auton houses in the land, and lots of Auton children wandering over it, but the original Auton House is gone forever, and we can only catch the echo of its revelry in our ear, and detect a smack of its good cheer lingering on our tongue." Condition: Clean front cover; light soiling along the right edge of the back cover; the red cloth color has somewhat faded on the spine; sharp corners. Tight binding. No cracks. No loose pages. The inside of the book nearly appears unread - clean pages with no writing, stains, tears of foxing. Inscription written in pencil on front end paper. Overall in very good condition.
