Illustrated with a colour folding map frontispiece and twenty colour folding maps to the rear. Collated complete. A detailed account of the East Africa Campaign during the period covered by the command of Field Marshal Jan Christian Smuts, a South African statesman, military leader and philosopher who served as prime minister of the Union of South Africa. Written by John Johnston Collyer, a South African soldier with the Cape Mounted Riflemen who saw operational deployments during the South Africa War and the two African campaigns of the First World War. With a foreword by Field Marshal Jan Christian Smuts. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and fading to the spine. The odd small mark to the boards. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. A small crease resulting in a closed tear to page xv. Contemporary ink inscription and bookseller's label to the front pastedown. Very Good. book.
