Small quarto ( 23 cm), softcover with photo portrait of Comeau (1848- 1923) as frontis, many additional photos-- lynx in a trap, three golden eagles nailed to the side of a shed, sports with their trophies. Ms notes on a controversy arising among Canadian Field Naturalists during 1924 in connection with Comeau s legacy, occasional notations in the text apropos that reputation as shown. Hinges neatly re-enforced with tape, a few spots here and there. A very good copy.

Comeau. 1909 1st edition; Daily Telegraph Printing House; Quebec. The book features a frontispiece portrait of the author, a map, and numerous full-page photographic plates. Decorative floral end papers. All edges of the text block are stained red. This copy is inscribed by the author in ink on the back of the frontispiece, as follows: "With the best wishes of Nap. A. Comeau - Godbout, July 6th '09." Here are a few examples of the contents: Shooting Accidents; Trapping Lynx; Beaver; A True Ghost Story; Bear Stories; Seals and Seal Shooting on the St. Lawrence; An Old-time Caribou Hunt; Poachers; Lost in the Wilderness; Duck Shooting; Goose Shooting; A Little Swan Shoot; The Great Horned Owl; Three Golden Eagles; A Short and Easy Wolf Hunt; Trout; Salmon Rivers.and much more. To older sportsmen, the book will, I hope, recall pleasant remembrances of days gone by." Condition: Light staining to the covers; the spine has darkened. Tiny cloth tears at the cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the pages are clean and nearly appear unread with no notable issues found. Author's inscription in ink on front end paper. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition. Inscribed by Author(s).
