Some foxing to the edges of the binding. The first page of the Glossary (pages 135-136) is torn at the bottom with loss of text. Otherwise a sound copy with secure inner hinges. Text is clean. SIGNED by both authors on the half title and inscribed by Samuel Smiley, "To my dear Aunt Jeannie from your loving nephew. Sam." Samuel has signed and inscribed in green ink; John Philips Cranwell has flat signed in black ink. Stated First Edition on the copyright page. Illustrated with photos. Signed by Author(s).

Some browning to the paper in the interior.

End-pages slightly age-toned, but otherwise a very good, clean copy inside and out. No previous owners marks or signatures. The dust jacket is still in one piece, but soiled, with shelfwear to all edges and folds, including small chips and tears. It is not price clipped.

Front flap was previously detached from front panel of jacket but has been repaired with archival tape. Front panel bright; rear panel (white) lightly soiled.
