Hardcover. Etat : Good. 1st Edition. 4to; 209 pages; with 38 fine photographs (including several full-page, by Murry Barford, and some aerial views) and numerous maps, line drawings, diagrams, etc. in the text (some part coloured); hardback: original brown cloth; covers rather rubbed and spotted (but sound), spine sunned, and small stains on spine; endpapers are a little foxed, but otherwise contents are clean and sound, apart from a very few ink markings, two signatures of previous owners on endpapers, and a note which reads "Wilshampstead By-Pass Page 98". One of a series of regional planning reports produced by William Robert Davidge , this is a most interesting volume which covers a wide range of topics relevant to planning in Bedfordshire, including, amongst much other material, its topography and geology, transport, public services, regional planning proposals, recent developments, road development (including, even at this stage, a Bedford By-pass!!), and ways to protect the distinctive character of the county, including historic sites. A major focus is on the need to improve the county's road system.
