Pages and plates are lightly tanned and foxed throughout, heavier to endpapers and pastedowns. Cracking to gutters of a few pages with exposed binding. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Cracking to hinges with exposed binding, causing boards to be loose. Binding is shaky. Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Crushing to spine ends with small splits and fraying to cloth.Mild tanning to spine and edges. Brown stain and red scuffed mark to rear board.

The story of the British Eighth Flotilla, and in particular H. M. Destroyer Firedrake, which incurred critical damage in the Sicilian Channel but managed to stay afloat and make its make to America to the Boston Navy Yard for repairs.
