Top edges gilt; others untrimmed. Illustrated endpapers. One plate to volume I heavily worn and chipped to lower edge. Armorial bookplate of A.W. Read to front pastedown of each volume. Blue ink ownership to bookplate in volume I. Moderate wear to bindings; spines sunned. Very good. Composed in Leigh Hunt's twilight years, and first published in Household Words between 1853 an 1854, this is a topographical tour of old Kensington, before its transformation into Museum Land.

Edges uncut. Significant rubbing to bottom edge, top spinecap, tips of corners rubbed through to cardboard; light rubbing elsewhere to extremities. Some light fraying to spinecaps, corners. Moderate sunning to spine. Light rubbing to front board, rear board, with moderate rubbing to 0.5 inch by 5 inch rectangle. Light spotting to front board with a dozen or so white spots quarter dime-sized or smaller. Light foxing to endpapers, first and last few pages. Bottom 5 inches along frontis page detached from binding. Tear to length of rear hinge with stitching visible but hinge still intact. Boards very lightly cocked with slight curve to vertical and horizontal axis. Very slight spine lean to top half of spine.
