Some edge wear to top and bottom of jacket, small loss to top and bottom of spine, corners rubbed with small loss, but overall jacket still quite bright and unsunned. 'One has to move on'. Janet and her husband 'Twice' Alexander are on a home leave visit from St. Jago in the Caribbean. Motoring down from Reachfar to Crookmill, the house they made for themselves out of a string of ruined cottages, the couple realise that, with the pattern of their lives changing, a hard decision must be made involving two of their dearest 'Friends'. But fate intervenes in the person of the exotic clairvoyant, Madame Zora, and nothing is quite the same again. Jane Duncan (1910-76), was the pseudonym of Scottish writer Elizabeth Jane Cameron, best known for her 'My Friends' series of semi autobiographical novels. The 'Reachfar' or 'My Friends' series is narrated by Janet Sandison and follows her life (which in outline parallels that of the author) from the World War I period through to the 1960s, depicting the people she encounters and showing how her crofting upbringing influences her in whatever society and geographical location she finds herself. Quite a scarce book.
