Limited to 1000 numbered copies. In addition to the title story, a short novel, this volume collects "The Story of a Reigning Beauty." The seventh book in the series of XVIII Century French Romances, edited by Vyvyan Holland (Oscar Wilde's son), published by Chapman and Hall in the mid-to-late 1920s. A fine copy in about good decorated dust jacket with several small chips from upper spine end and dust soiling. (#135875).

The first edition of 'Le Masque' bears the rubric Amsterdam, 1751, and it was reprinted in 1755 and 1782, and has not previously been translated into English.
