Spiral Binding. Etat : Very Good. One in a series of vintage guides prepared by Shell. This one is a vintage guide to the Bucks area of England, also known as Buckinghamshire, that is near Greater London. Chapters on the landscape of the area, on the monuments (written by Katherine A. Esdaile), a detailed alphabetical Gazetteer with information on the many sights, on the industries, and on the flowers and trees. Illustrated with vintage b/w photographs and drawings. There are several full-page plates that are photographs, drawings, and paintings done in sepia tones (including two by Nash himself) and printed on salmon-colored paper. there are two pages of very detailed maps in color. Decorative endpapers with the prior owner's name written on the first page - very small and discreet. Black plastic spiral binding in excellent condition, as is the guide itself, with no marks of any kind. Measures 7" x 9" with 46+ pages.

A Shell Guide, this one covering Buckinghamshire, its history, geography, natural history etc, with a two colour maps and illustrated throughout with black and white photographs, and reproductions of art by John and Paul Nash etc on pink paper. John Nash contributes leaf design endpapers and a preface. There is an Edward Bawden advert for Shell on the last page.Condition: Fair condition. The front cover is nearly detached and creased to the lower corner, and the spiral binding has a horizontal crack about 6cm down from the top. The rest of the text is in good, readable condition.
