No publication date, but binder's label on front pastedown from Emberlin and Harold of Marlborough, who were active in the first half of the 19th century. 2 ownership names for 1843 and 1904 on back of ffep. Index to contents of each volume in ink on 2nd fep. Binding tight for both volumes, but spine labels have been lost. Text in Greek. Contents foxed, with some pages badly affected. Edges and corners of bindings worn, but hinges firm.

Später wirkte er als Hofprediger in Darmstadt. 1821 beginnt er mit der Herausgabe der Monatsschrift für Predigerwissenschaften". 1822 folgte die Allgemeine Kirchenzeitung", ihr folgt 1824 die Herausgabe einer Allgemeinen Schulzeitung" in Verbindung mit einem Pädagogisch-philologischen Literaturblatt"; in demselben Jahr ergänzt die Kirchenzeitung ein Theologisches Literaturblatt". T.p. with Greek head title and rest in Latin + 58 pp. interleaved with blanks, remaining text all in Greek; the blank leaves are heavily annotated in mixture of Greek, Latin and English in a small, but basically legible, early hand, this appears to amount to a clearly scholarly commentary of sorts and add great interest to the copy, ex-libris heraldic crest book-plate to fr. paste-down, motto 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense', no name but slipped in note has 'Edward Geoffrey Stanley 14th Earl of Derby K.G. G.C.M.G P.C. D.C.L. b 1799. d. 1869, hence Order of the Garter motto, he was Conservative Prime Minister 3 times but each very briefly. Endpapers all have numerous tanning spots and small patches, front gutter opening to top half exposing netting but secured. An interesting copy. 12 cm x 18.5 cm.

Euripides (484-406 B.C.) The First Volume of two (stops at and including Iphigenia in Tauris) of Euripides eighteen (of nineteen) Tragedies. The text is printed entirely in Greek, aside the title page which repeats in Latin. Only preceded by the Aldine edition of 1503, subsequently Herwagen s two editions of Euripides (1537 and 1544) comprised eighteen tragedies in Greek. This volume includes Hecuba, Orestes, Phoenissae (Phoenician Women), Medea, Hyppolytus, Alcestis, Andromache, Supplices (The Suppliants), Iphigenia in Aulide, and Iphigenia in Tauris. Not included are: Rhesus, Troades (The Trojan Women), Bacchae, Cyclops, Heracleidae, Helena, Ion and Hercules Furens (Heracles). Annotated extensively throughout. The first 40 or so pages hand numbered, many pages with remains of damp staining effect to the pages. Closed tear to the margin of page hh not impacting any text. Approximately 7 ¾ inches tall.
